Mining, Gender and Sustainable Livelihoods WorkshopJointly organised by the Australian National University and the World BankThursday 6th & Friday 7th November 2008Hedley Bull Centre, Australian National University, CanberraThe Mining, Gender and Sustainable Livelihoods workshop brought together 80 participants over the course of the two days. The program featured 34 speakers from across the Asia-Pacific Region, South and Central Asia, Africa and the US. Participants included representatives from the mining industry, academia, NGO and donor sectors, AusAID (the Australian government’s overseas aid program) and independent researchers and consultants working in the field of mining, gender and sustainable livelihoods. The workshop was organized into four thematic and regional panel sessions per day, with discussion and Q&A sessions following each panel session. Each panel session was introduced and facilitated by a chair.
